7 Reasons Lasso Is the Best WordPress Affiliate Plugin

Where Lasso Fits in Your StackWhy We Built LassoConclusion

Most affiliate sites run on duct tape. One plugin for links. Another for displays. A spreadsheet to track what broke last month. Lasso is the WordPress plugin we built to replace that stack: add, manage, and display affiliate links from any program, including Amazon, in one place.

If you run a content site and treat monetization like infrastructure (not an afterthought), these seven reasons explain why we built it and where it fits in your stack.

Updated 2026.

After working heads down on Lasso for months, I paused publishing content. Getting to product-market fit was a lot of work. I used to record a podcast and write for Listen Money Matters. I also run other online businesses, own rental properties, and have a family with twins and a wonderfully supportive wife, Laura.

My schedule is busy. I try to maximize work time so I can spend most of it outside of work. That only works when the tools on my sites do not create more work.

I underestimated how hard it would be to ship a plugin like Lasso in the WordPress ecosystem. Every site is unique. Different plugins, themes, and hosting setups. We did it anyway. Lasso is stable now, and we have shipped a long list of features since launch.

1Where Lasso Fits in Your Stack

Lasso is the all-in-one WordPress plugin for affiliate marketing. You add, manage, and display links from any program, including Amazon. You can increase conversions, find new link opportunities, and earn more revenue in less than five minutes.

I recently stepped back and realized we had not done a great job telling Lasso's story. Our comparison pages were thin. Much of the site needed clearer explanation. We spent years building the product and not enough time explaining what we built or where we fit.

For some tools, we use them on our own sites and recommend you do too. Genius Link is a good example for international traffic. Lasso is not trying to replace that. We are happy to let Amazon OneLink and Genius Link handle geo routing. Lasso is the monetization layer on top: displays, link management, and opportunity detection across your content.

We host all of our sites with WP Engine, nuff said. They are the best WordPress managed-hosting service that we’ve found. And we’ve tried most of them. Nothing beats the power and ease of use of their admin tools.

2Why We Built Lasso

Here are the seven problems we kept hitting as operators. Each one became a reason Lasso exists.

1. Link Changes

Affiliate programs move. Our partners switch between ShareASale, Impact, and other networks. Managing that across hundreds of posts by hand is painful.

We built Lasso so you can update a link once and push the change across your entire site. For operators at scale, that is not a nice-to-have. It is how you avoid broken revenue.

2. We Change Our Minds

Sometimes the best product for our audience changes. We loved SoFi until we found Earnest for refinancing. When our recommendation shifts, we need to swap product mentions sitewide without a weekend of find-and-replace in the database.

Lasso makes that a single update, not a scavenger hunt through old posts.

3. Simple Text Links Are Not Enough

Plain affiliate links still work. But on mobile, attention is scarce. A thoughtful product display tells visitors where they are going and why they should click.

We have seen the difference across our own portfolio. Displays earn trust. Trust earns clicks. Clicks earn commissions. If you want the full breakdown on secondary buttons and conversion, read our post on using a secondary CTA to improve conversion rates.

Earn Trust and Get More Clicks

Lasso lets you showcase your affiliate links in beautifully designed displays. When your visitors see a descriptive product box, they’re more likely to click because they know where they’re going.

4. Resource Pages Account for 10% of Our Income

Pat Flynn was right about resource pages. A strong Toolbox or Resources page can generate serious revenue. On our site, our Toolbox page accounts for roughly 10% of income.

With Lasso, building a high-performing resource page takes less than 10 minutes. That is leverage: one page, compounding returns, minimal maintenance.

5. We Also Sell Our Own Products

Courses and digital products can be highly lucrative. You need a way to feature your own offers alongside affiliate recommendations without everything looking the same.

Lasso lets you display your products prominently and differentiate them from third-party affiliate links. Your audience sees what is yours versus what you recommend.

6. We Fully Support Amazon

Amazon is still the backbone of many affiliate sites. Lasso supports Amazon products without making you fight the API on every update.

We also prevent you from cloaking Amazon links, so you stay inside their Terms of Service. Compliance should be built in, not bolted on after a warning email.

7. An Opportunity Detection Engine

Building a niche site takes time. The fastest win is often money you already left on the table: unmonetized mentions, old URLs, and product names with no affiliate link attached.

Lasso's Opportunities feature scans your content and surfaces those gaps. I once found unmonetized YNAB links and fixed them in under two minutes. That pattern repeats across every site we look at.

Run an Opportunities Scan on your site to see what you are missing. Most operators find at least a handful of quick wins on the first pass.

3Conclusion

There are more reasons Lasso exists than fit in one post. Automations, analytics, and display templates keep improving. The core idea has not changed: affiliate monetization should be infrastructure, not a pile of plugins and spreadsheets.

Then run an Opportunities Scan and turn the gaps it finds into revenue this week.
